Abstract
This unit is intended to bridge the gap between teaching the structure of atoms and how that informs the organization of the periodic table and the properties elements possess. Students will be taken through a series of lessons and performance assessment that will prepare students to analyze patterns not only in the periodic table but the world around them, recognize how to use resources to solve problems and locate an answer, and also construct a concise and intriguing explanation for phenomena they observe. This unit is intended to last 5 weeks.
