Abstract
The effect of psychoanalysis on American culture broadly, and Jewish intellectual life in particular, is especially evident in the Jewish American novel. Psychoanalysis, for writers like Saul Bellow, Philip Roth, and in the work of more recent writers, such as Ehud Havazeket, Nicole Krauss, and Nathan Englander, is a lens through which to construct fictions.
