Abstract
The 79th Session of the Nevada Legislature began after the election, in February 2017, with Democratic majorities in both the house and senate, replacing GOP control. The Nevada legislature meets every two years; in the interim, education measures are developed, examined and implemented across the state. The last session, in 2015, provided historic new funding for education, a weighted funding system, and a focus on special needs students and vouchers. The GOP Governor Sandavol's State of the State address championed continued support and investment in these changes being implemented across the state.
